ABSTRAKBipolar disorder, is one of the so many mental illnesses. And each of the patient has its own specificity with a variation of symptoms and signs. But basically, every patient will experience two kind of moods : manic and depressive one.

It affects male and female, usually starting at their teens. Celebrities affected by this disorder, eg. : Sinead O’Connor, Patty Duke and the former manager of Motley Crue Richard J Fisher. And surprising Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison was also an ex-bipolar patient who’s writing about this mental illness in a book titled “An Unquiet Mind” .

I’ve seen one bipolar patient. In my observation, the patient would act very energitic, early man and talkative juring his manic state. He’s so early waking up in the morning, when people still curling under their blankets. He’d took a bath and cleaned every part of his body thoroughly, very clean and with good smell. He shoved his beard and moustache, then put on his nice sweater and pant also sneakers very neatly. Spraying perfume was one last thing he did in that very early morning. Wow, he’d looked so very dandy..   But annoying other people’s  slept…

Then came the anticlimax, when his depressive episode’s coming. He would be very lazy, clumsy in every movement, dirts on his body, waking up late in the afternoon, he’s so quiet, unfriendly to others, badmood and bad smell due to very rarely taking a bath. Actually, I took pity on him, but I could not do alot to help him…

That was my experienced with a bipolar patient. Fortunately he never did a violance during his manic state. But many times making other people busy to handle him, due to his action endangering his savety in a public place…

I wish I could buy the book of Dr. Jamison here in Indonesia, so that I could learn more about bipolar disorder. And to get to know how to minimize the symptoms and signs which  will lead to recovery of the patient.

And Patty Duke is one of the healed patients of bipolar disorder. She’s now in Hollywood, California. I saw her sharing with one bipolar patient in a TV show. Tears dropped when she talked with that man with bipolar, in an emphatic face. She’s great, because she had successfully passed her painful days during her manic and depressive episodes.

Sinead O’Connor as a singing star with her very popular song ‘Nothing compares to you’ even declared that she onced would like to finish her life, to committ suicide. She felt like there’re lots of holes in her body that leaking fluid from her body. She would like to end the pains, and to be reborn with a healthy new body and soul…

Everybody feeling that he or she has this bipolar disorder is adviced to contact Dr Kay R Jamison to have her advice and proper medications, case by case. Or you could browse oprah.com to get more details information about Dr. Jamison.

To Motley Crue or whoever read this article or knows  Richard J Fisher and has sympathy for his bipolar illness, please do help him.. By now, he’s  really in a very bad condition probably under federal detention due to his acts against the federal law, in Kissimmee, Florida. He has nothing and lives with food stamp.. He needs help…
